Submission Guidelines
perhaps is a magazine devoted to wondering, asking questions, and exploring topics that deserve slow and careful consideration.
We publish long- and short-form essays, fiction, artwork, and visualizations that spend time with a subject, offering not authoritative views but explorations, provocations, and engagements. From the environment to communities, from artifacts to metaphysics, to literary fiction and visual art, perhaps is an open space to explore ideas.
Some of the things we’ve been thinking about lately
Can you draw meaningful connections across disparate topics? Can you make us rethink something in a new way? Can you make something visible that has largely remained hidden? Can you write voice-driven fiction that pulls us into a character’s unique world?
Drop us a line. We’d love to hear your ideas.
To pitch or submit to us, use the form below
Please submit a proposal (max 300 words) and weโll let you know if it sounds like a fit for perhaps. You may submit complete pieces (up to 5,000 words) for consideration.
We publish two print issues per year, in summer and winter, as well as rotating content throughout the year on the web. Submissions will be considered for the website and print edition.
Written submissions must be previously unpublished unless otherwise discussed with us.
As the creator of your work, you retain copyright upon publication. If published, you agree to grant Perchance Publishing LLC first serial/electronic rights, as well as electronic archival rights in perpetuity. You also agree that if the work is published subsequently (online or in print), perhaps will be credited.
Unfortunately, at this time, we cannot pay contributors. However, we nominate for prizes, promote contributors as much as we can, and we’ll send you a couple of copies upon publication.
